Cleaning glasses: the do's
Us step-by-step plan to get your glasses fresh, fruity and above all undamaged on your nose again:
- Hold your glasses by the nosepiece and not by the temples.
- Rinse your glasses under lukewarm, running water. Rinse your entire eyeglasses: not just the lenses, but also the frames.
- If necessary, use a pH-neutral cleaning agent such as skin-friendly soap or dishwashing liquid without lemon. Avoid cleaning cloths or products containing alcohol, as these can damage the coating.
- Make sure your glasses are really clean before you start polishing. Dirt can act like sandpaper.
- Dry your glasses with a clean, dry microfiber or eyeglass cloth. Use a cloth that hasn't been washed with fabric softener, as this will leave a haze. Don't use paper towels, paper towels, napkins, clothing, or other common fabrics. These can scratch your lenses or the coating.
Voilà ! If all goes well, you're now no longer looking through frosted glass, but through beautifully clean lenses.
Cleaning glasses with glasses spray
Glasses spray is a cleaning spray This product is specifically designed to clean your lenses. It's best to rinse your lenses under lukewarm water before using eyeglass cleaner. This ensures there are no dirt on your lenses that could scratch them when you clean them. Spray both sides of the lens. Then wipe dry with a clean microfiber or eyeglass cloth.
Removing and storing glasses
You don't always wear your glasses, of course. Storing them is also very important to keep them in top condition (literally):
- Use both hands. This will support the frame and prevent it from bending.
- Always store your glasses in a suitable, hard glasses case.
- Never place your glasses on the lenses, otherwise scratches may occur.
- Avoid extreme temperature fluctuations. In the summer, many glasses break in overheated glove compartments. It's also best to leave your glasses off in the sauna. Glasses have a coating made up of several layers. These each react slightly differently to temperature fluctuations, which can cause them to crack during extreme temperature fluctuations.
- It's probably no surprise that substances like acetone, glue, ether, etc., don't mix well with your glasses. But even more harmless substances can contain acids that cause your glasses to wear out faster. Even your own sweat. Therefore, be careful with hairspray, perfume, cream, aftershave, and other toiletries near your glasses.
