Tired eyes from screens

Symptoms: Tired eyes and more

From the moment you open your eyes to the moment you dive into bed after a long day, your eyes are working for you. Even when you're resting. Much of your waking hours are spent looking at screens: your phone, computer, laptop, tablet, television. All day long, your eyes have to constantly switch between these devices, and that's hard work. This causes you to unconsciously adopt unnatural postures. You may be experiencing digital eye strain. The symptoms:

  • tired eyes
  • problems with focusing
  • dry eyes
  • teary eyes
  • blurred or double vision
  • headache
  • painful neck and/or shoulders
  • sensitivity to light
  • concentration problems

If you recognize these symptoms besides just tired eyes, the tip of all tips is multimedia glasses

What are multimedia glasses (computer glasses)?

Computer glasses sound old-fashioned. That's why the terms "screen glasses" and "multimedia glasses" are more common these days. With multimedia or screen glasses, the lenses are specially designed for near and intermediate distances. They're designed so that you can always see comfortably with a relaxed head and body posture while performing your work or hobby. Musicians, painters, artists, chefs, and others who focus their gaze on something within 2 meters often also find these glasses more comfortable. At Oogwereld, we can tailor the lenses to your specific situation for optimal and comfortable vision.

Costs of computer glasses, employer, reimbursements and more

The cost of multimedia/computer glasses varies considerably. This depends on the type of lens, the quality of the lenses, and the viewing distances for which the lenses are optimized. Sometimes a health insurer will cover multimedia or computer glasses through a supplementary package. You can find this in the policy conditions, or we can check for you. Do you have to work with screens for more than two hours a day for your job? Then it's worth contacting your employer. They are required by the Working Conditions Act to prevent eye problems as much as possible and will often cover (part of) the costs in such cases.
