Visual problems
Visual problems caused by, for example, incorrect coordination of the eyes, are often accompanied by complaints and disorders such as:
- Loss of concentration
- Headache
- Burning eyes
- Poor working posture
- Neck complaints
- Fatigue
- Behavioral problems
- Sloppy handwriting
- Clumsy motor skills
Regular check
Many symptoms of eye dysfunction are similar to those of dyslexia. By addressing a visual problem, a child with learning, writing, reading, or behavioral difficulties will function better. Many vision problems in children can be prevented or resolved by having their eyes checked regularly and promptly. The specialists at Oogwereld are happy to invite you and your child(ren) for an eye exam.
Myopia in children
Although myopia, also known as nearsightedness, is hereditary, lifestyle can also contribute to the development of myopia in children. For example, reading a lot and spending a lot of time in front of screens, such as computers, mobile phones, or televisions, during early childhood contribute to the development of myopia. We also know that children who spend little time outdoors during their childhood have a higher risk of developing myopia.

Fixation disparity in children
A visual impairment that causes you to see certain things differently than most people: that's fixation disparity. This common condition can be related to reading difficulties and dyslexia in (young) children. If fixation disparity isn't diagnosed in time, it can worsen the reading problems. Therefore, it's important to diagnose fixation disparity early.
